Early Humans
We recently went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, where we spent lots of time in the "Early Humans" exhibit. Julian was so cute toddling around, eating a cracker, and chattering with this Neanderthal baby, that random tourists snapped his photo.

Mommy's Birthday
Mommy's birthday fell on a weekend this year, so we had a couple days of fun. On Friday night, Mommy and Pop-Pop went to a Phillies-Nationals game.
Saturday, we opened gifts, went to dinner at Matchbox (where Julian played endless peekaboo with his napkin), and then had cake via Skype with the Ohio Lesmerises fam.

Julian meets MLK
The newest monument in Washington, DC - a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. - opened to the public on Monday, and Julian was one of the first to see it! We headed down in the stroller with our friends Andrea and Thaddeus.
We took a picture in front of mommy's favorite MLK quote: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

Shore with Friends
This month, John continued a (mostly) annual tradition of having some friends to the Leibovitz shore house for the weekend. Julian got his first surrey ride on the Ocean City Boardwalk, and loved it!
He also ate unmentionable amounts of sand, and lots of his favorite boardwalk pizza.
The Brettschneiders (including Sophie, 4) stayed over, and we also met up with the Glazers (including Billy, 4 and Zia, 1.)

Mommy's "girls" weekend, Julian's "Grandma/Pop-Pop" weekend!
At the end of July, we headed to Palmyra for a long weekend. Mommy got to spend time with her oldest friends (and bridesmaids), all five of us together for the very first time since our wedding in February 2009! We had some nice nights out, and quality time with the seven kiddos too.
We went to the New Kids on the Block concert in Hershey, yeah! We became NKOTB fans over 20 years ago... wow.
Julian got lots of time with Grandma and Pop-Pop who did a lot of babysitting. We also got to have quality family time together, including a trip to the Jigger Shop, an old-time outdoor ice cream parlor. Julian was very snuggly with his Grandma, and very demanding of his Pop-Pop - issuing his baby-language commands about being carried, going outside and more. Everyone was worn out after 4 days!
