Santa Baby

Boy oh boy, do we love party season with our baby boy! Julian loves the lights on our "Hanukkah Bush" and on the mantle with our stockings.

From Santa Baby

Our friends Tom and Claire came to visit. Julian is obsessed with hair and tried his best to pull Tom's.

Our friends Bruce, Katie and Annabel had a party to decorate their tree. Julian reprised his role as Santa. (Even Santa has to get his diaper changed sometimes!)

Julian made his second-ever appearance at Daddy's office, for the FCC Wireless Bureau holiday party - during which he, literally, taught himself to wave. Here he is trying out his new trick on the FCC Chairman himself.

Hanukkah party

We had a lovely Hanukkah party last weekend - party food courtesy of Glo Glo, who came all the way from Philadelphia to make her delicious latkes (and accompaniments.)   Our friends Lauren, Bruce, Katie and little Annabel joined us for a big dinner.

We exchanged presents and had fun all weekend long, topped off by a trip on Sunday to the U.S. Botanical Garden.  We saw their annual holiday train exhibit, themed this year on the "seven wonders of the ancient world."   That's an acorn-based replica of the ancient Mayan site of Tikal, which we visited on our honeymoon, in Guatemala! (The average kiddo there care waaay more that it was Thomas the Train cruising around it.)

First nights of Hanukkah

Here are some photos from the first two nights of Hanukkah last week. Julian loves to look at lights, and loves toys, so it was his kind of holiday!

Thanksgiving

Julian was a full participant in our Thanksgiving in Philadelphia. He ate some pumpkin and stared down this paper turkey.

We had a delicious dinner with Zayda & Glo Glo, the Bar Davids, and Uncle Marvin.

Later in the weekend we saw friends, including Andy Glazer and family (including new baby Zia!) and some of Monica's friends from Camden. Cousin Mattie came by for dinner too, and Julian greeted Glo Glo's friend Mary Ellen by doing a giant spit up on her (oops!)

Here we are outside family friend Barbara's house. It was a busy, beautiful, too short weekend in Philly!

What's for Dinner?

It is safe to say that I did not really like this cauliflower...

From What's for dinner?

Banana? Hooray! That's my favorite.

I also love squash, especially in my mommy's lap.

A Baby's Life

This is a typical November day in a baby's life. I play with my Daddy before he goes to work, and try not to drool on his suit.

I have a date in the park with my little friends.

Little Man in Business Casual

Julian was wearing a button-down, collared shirt today and looking particularly grown up. Another indication of his rapid maturity: he has begun kissing girls! ("I know she is a giraffe, but I LOVE her!)

The Dostichs Take D.C.!

This weekend we were happy to host Mommy's cousins Diane and Greg & Laura, who drove in from Pennsylvania and Virginia. They played with the littlest one-quarter-Dostich, and we all went for a long walk by the Supreme Court.

Halloween Part 2

Sunday night was Trick or Treat on Capitol Hill. It's quite the hot spot - we got a few hundred trick or treaters and the streets were packed. Little Baby Cow went out and about in his stroller to drop in on some friends, while Grandma and Pop-Pop manned the door at home. After a long evening, Julian came home, put on his pumpkin pajamas, and did a little Skype-ing before bedtime.

Halloween, Part 1

Last night our little baby cow went to his first Halloween party! "Hill-o-ween" is the big block party on Capitol Hill, full of things Julian will appreciate a bit more next year and beyond (hay rides, balloon animals.) He had mixed feelings about his cow costume, but it is warm and he took a snuggly nap in it!

Now holding office hours

This is my desk.  As you can see I'm very busy.  Very very very busy.  Watch out, because I am a tough boss.  I'm not afraid to tell this lion to shape-up, or to dock the pay of this monkey for monkeying around on the job.

We love books

Julian loves books. Sure, he'll probably have an e-reader by the first grade, but you know what? You just can't snuggle with an e-reader...
